A bit of history…
Authentic hotel from the 1920s
In 1921, Alexandre and Suzanne Bourigault left Paris with their three children Simone, Ginette and Jean. They then decided to settle in Pornichet and buy a villa located at 101 avenue de la gare, in order to create a family guesthouse. Shortly after, they acquired a large plot of land on avenue Flornoy. With the help of a local architect, Tiridate Yazathlan, the couple launched their hotel-pension.
The establishment was named Les Charmettes, in memory of a hotel-restaurant where Alexandre was an apprentice chef.
In 1930, in order to accommodate more guests, the Bourigault couple called on the architect André Batillat, a member of the Seiz Breur artistic movement, to design and build an extension.
Les Charmettes, open from March to September, attracted a wealthy clientele from Paris, the North, but also from Switzerland and Great Britain. The hotel-pension is a choice accommodation for those who spend long stays by the sea.
During the Second World War, Les Charmettes, like most hotels and guesthouses, was requisitioned and welcomed, in particular, the Todt Organisation.
