The Villa Flornoy

En 1921, Alexandre et Suzanne Bourigault, quittent Paris avec leurs trois enfants Simone, Ginette et Jean. Ils décident alors de s’installer à Pornichet et d’y acheter une villa situé au 101 avenue de la gare, afin d’y créer une pension de famille.  Peu de temps après, ils font l’acquisition d’un vaste terrain sur l’avenue Flornoy. Avec l’aide d’un architecte local, Tiridate Yazathlan, le couple lance leur hôtel-pension.

The establishment is named Les Charmettes, in memory of a hotel-restaurant where Alexandre was an apprentice cook.

En 1930, afin d’accueillir davantage d’hôtes, le couple Bourigault fait appel à l’architecte André Batillat, membre du mouvement artistique Seiz Breur, pour imaginer et réaliser une extension. 

The Charmettes, open from March to September, attracts a wealthy clientele from Paris, the North, but also from Switzerland and Great Britain. Hotel pension is a choice accommodation for those who make long stays by the sea.

During World War II, Les CharmettesLike most hotels and boarding houses, the Todt Organization was requisitioned.

Renowned guests such as Albert Préjean, Louis Murat, Claude Chabrol, Alain Barrière and Sacha Distel have stayed at La Villa Flornoy.

Years go by and owners come and go. The annex is sold to become a private home.

In 2000, the hotel was renamed in honour of the avenue that borders it and took its current name, La Villa Flornoy.
